Plum Grass

The second in my series of gifts for my mucha-esque mermaid project. My friend requested purple for her mermaid. And I aimed to use yellow to contrast it. (her asking me for one like Hailie's, prompted the project actually. I'd only planned to make one)


Fortunately this one was much easier to correct colour-wise when I scanned it in. I think my scanner just has some beef with reds and oranges or something. Hilarious. XD CURSE YOU FOR HATING MY MOST USED COLOURS, SCANNER! Ahem. The moment she begged me for purple, I knew I had to do a braid or bust. Will I be doing different hairstyles everytime? hmm. ;>

For this project I'm using an unusual medium.. crayons (the waxy kind), rather than colour pencils, as a challenge. I haven't worked with crayons since I was a kid, but I'm enjoying the challenge of making something smooth and sharp out of the generally rough texture they create.
